I got to shoot my spearment just now...

I got to shoot my spearment just now...

CYA friends:

I've got so much to discuss.....pictures to upload, and so forth......

I finally got to shoot my spearment that I sent to the Barn...

I'm as cited as I think I've ever been about a spearment..

Some of the iconic CYankee guns:

Duke of Earl, Rooster, Tack Driver, TDX, Rabbit Sheriff, Raging Inferno, Deuces Wild, Divine Force, Duck Hawk, Hot Sticks, Big Dog, Gingersnap, and of course Black Death.....and so many others...

CYA friends, this spearment, after I got to shoot it this evening, ranks with those other iconic CYankee guns.....

And I dare to day, it may be one of the absolute best......

I've got so much to discuss about this spearment....and the ammo war between Eley and Lapua...

I'll get it all together before long and post all of what I saw tonight...

But first.....this is incredible:

Here is the target that Robert Oates shot at the barn with my spearment..

Now remember, this Muller barrel only had 6 rounds through it when I sent it to the Barn.

Anyway, Robert tested all the Eley that was available at the Barn...

He fired the first PSL card with the best Eley he got to test..a 2025.

Robert then decided to put the spearment up.....as he didn't have any killer ammo..

Then, someone gave him a piece of a box of Lapua.....

So Robert decided to shoot the second PSL card....with this part of a box of Lapua..

CYA friends, I want you to look at Robert's second card with this unknown Lapua....part of a box.

Look at this PSL card.....closely..

Robert fired four foulers, at the sighter bull I'm pointing at....

Then he ran 25 straight PSL rounds, no other sighters.....

_______________

Look at this target closely......

17 X's.......that's on an 85X schedule, for five cards.......

2375 PSL score.....

With a spearment with only 6 rounds through it......

______________________

Look how flat this thing is...

This may be my absolute best effort..........as a RFBR schmidt.

_______________________

I'll get everything together, pictures, etc...then post soon...

This thing is bad....like Robert related to me after he kicked out this card...

I've gotta stop now, cause I'm wore out.....

I mean, Robert kicked this card out with a barrel with only 6 rounds through it.....

_____________________________

And look at the four sighters that I'm pointing at...

Only 29 rounds passed through this PSL card.....

CYA friends, can you imagine only shooting 4 fouler/sighters before going to the record on a PSL card?

And by the way, look at the four fouler/sighters.....they aren't much larger than a single bullet hole...

7 MINUTES

Hi Bill
That target is the best PSL target that I have ever shot and the fastest. It was shot in 7 minutes. That long bolt handle is amazing. Thanks for all you do to keep this sport moving.

Thank you for working with my spearment, at the Barn...

And thank you for the brick of SK SSHP slugging ammo....

The action on this spearment is a 10-X triple with Wilkinson hard copy locking lugs by Brendt L.

And yes, it's just like silk when the breech bolt is cycled.

Robert, if you remove that oddity in the middle row, that card is about as stout as it gets....

When you run your eye up and down the rows, showing the horizontal dispersion, it's mind blowing...

And the same for the vertical.....

I've got a bunch more to tell about......

I did get to shoot it today and that thing is as stout as anything I've ever produced.......

It was like the first test of Black Death, or Rooster, or TDX and some of the others.....

When I ran the first test on some of those iconic guns, I knew that one day folks were going to kill it with them things...and they have.

I got the exact same feeling this evening when I shot this spearment...

Robert, someone, someday is going to wear folks out with this thing.....

Tom Wilkinson sent me a bunch of Lapua test lots, stuff he had tested.....( thank you Tom).....so I picked up three boxes at random, I did look to make sure they were different lot numbers...

All three of those lots simply drilled......just like this PSL card you shot with Lapua.

When I'd go from bull to bull, this thing simply took the dot out........

And I shot some five shot groups that'd scare you to death with this thing.

I took a box of the best Eley I have, 2069, Wally, Foster and Big Dog know of this lot....

So after shooting those three lots of Lapua I decided to shoot my best Eley...

And it drilled just like the Lapua.....

But, it was my very best lot of Eley, verses the first three lots I picked up of the Lapua from the rejected test lots Tom Wilkinson sent me...

So yes, this thing shoots Eley too.......good Eley, that is.

Thank you again for fooling with my spearment, at the Barn.

For anyone who saw this spearment at the Barn........

That's my cobbed up sealing job on this beautiful Jim Peightal, maple/walnut straight line.

And no butt plate...

Jim made this stock for me years ago....and the maple in it is flint hard...but once I bedded it, I had to seal the wood....

So I threw a cobbed up sealing job on it......bc

Robert, this is the handle 10-X supplies....functional, yes, but not very pleasing to look at.....

10-X%20bolt%20handle...jpg

This is what can be done with the factory 10-X handle.....much more pleasing to the eye.

It's tapered with a nice teardrop knob...the factory handle looks like a club with a ball on the end.
