Getting the new DiOrio crescent pin for my Baity 6 ignition
CYA gun fool friends:
Since my Baity 6 ignition will require a different set-up for the DiOrio crescent pin, I had resigned myself to just keep it with the chisel tip.
That is.......................
Until Bruce Hornstein kicked out that amazing 250 x 25X card at last week-ends IR-50 Indoor Unlimited Nationals, using the new DiOrio crescent pin in his early V-1 Turbo.
And then the biggie.........
He did it with his early V-1 marginally driving the new DiOrio pin, to the extent, that he had a failure to fire during his 25 X card..
I mean, good gosh.......
It makes the imagination run wild by the possibilities.

So I've changed my mind.
I've got to have one of the new DiOrio crescent pins for my Bailty 6 ignition, now.
I'm posting a couple of pictures:
This first picture is of the V-3 firing pin tip location, offset, in the body of the firing pin.....this is my 10-X pin for my pistol, but it's the same as the V-3, and I didn't want to tear the pistol down to get the V-3.......way too cold in the shop.
______________________
I rotated the pin body in the V block till I hit the apex of the pin tip.....
Then set the pointer to zero, and attached a V block clamp to hold the pin while I took the picture.
__________________________
Next I did the same thing with my Baity 6 firing pin....
As you can see the Baity 6 pin tip sits .011" further inboard than the V-3.
______________________________
I've got a bunch more on this........
For instance:
The Baity 6 ignition uses the same pin fall as the original E Turbo and the early V-1's, like Bruce Hornstein's.
I'm driving the new DiOrio crescent in my pistol with .173" of pin travel and the early 23# Wilkinson spring.
I'm just closing up the rim, perfectly, with .011" off my mechanical stop.......
So, I'm shooting for .175" of pin fall with my Baity 6 pin...
Should I not have that much pin fall, I'll make it have that much.....
If I do have to correct it, I'll show you how I do it.....OK.
More later....
Man I'm cited........
